Honorary degree for Kelly Holmes

This is pretty cool as because I was at college today and actually got to see Kelly Holmes arrive for here tour of our new college, there was a lot of press around and because our tutor had to go to the ceremony at Rochester Cathedral where Kelly Holmes would receive her honours degree we didn’t have classes in the afternoon.

I would have taken some pics but I didn’t have a camera with me, oh well maybe some other time, anyway here’s an article I found I the BBC website about it.

Double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes is receiving an honorary degree from the University of Kent at a ceremony at Rochester Cathedral.
The university said Dame Kelly, 35, from Hildenborough near Tonbridge, was one of Britain’s most recognisable and admired athletes.

It said as well as her medals, she was known for her committed approach.

Earlier on Wednesday, she is officially opening the university’s new building on its Medway campus.

The bronze-clad building opened its doors to its first students this autumn.

After the opening, Dame Kelly will be given a tour of its new state-of-the-art facilities for students studying the sport, health and fitness degrees.
