Windows Live Mail M8 Ad Survey

Earlier this morning I posted about an interesting windows live mail survey that some of you have been asked to take, and well I’ve now had my own chance of taking this survey and I must say it’s quite an impresive survey.

First of all the Windows Live Mail Survey will ask for your gender and age (not much use doing a survey without some personal statistics) and then you will be presented with a bunch of Windows Live Mail M8 screenshots which include cleverly place ads but of course the survey dosent tell you to remember anything except to look at the screenshots as if you were browsing your email normally.

After you’ve completed the Windows Live Mail M8 Screenshot Tour you will be asked about your opinions on Windows Live Mail compared to Hotmail and then after that it will ask you what you remember about the screenshots you saw (e.g. brand names etc.)

Following completion of this part of the survey you are then asked to follow a MSN Butterfly with your mouse cursor around the screen as well as moving your mouse cursor to triangules and other such objects that appear on the screen along.

Along with this part of moving your mouse pointer to objects on the screen you are asked to move your mouse cursor to parts of the ads and Windows Live Mail screenshots that catch your attention first, for me it was usually a persons contact image or a photo!

Anyhow if you do take the Windows Live Mail survey please do not let this post of mine interfere with your survey results (e.g. what brand names do you remember, what do you think about Windows Live Mail etc.) as there would be no point in taking the survey if you didn’t answer with the truth.

And hey here are some more screenhots of Windows Live Mail M8, click to enlarge!

Hmm this is quite wierd as yesterday I was sent an email to take a survey EXACTLY the same as you have described but with screenshots of the old Hotmail instead, even though I’ve been using Windows Live Mail for ages. Maybe they are trying to compare the advertisement effectiveness between the 2 versions, especially as they made the decicion to remove the sidescraper ad from Windows Live Mail a few milestones ago.
Also, at the bottom of the survey it said that it was being done for “MSN/Windows Live” so I suppose that explains a bit more. (The link I was sent was to http://websurvey.opinionbar.com/go.asp?s=XXXXXX_uk_sc4 – I changed the code to Xs incase you didn’t guess.)

Don’t you think Live Mail UI was a lot similar to OWA? (Probably a little more AJAX here and there and the Live theme applied to it)

I want to more browser space, especially in reading and writing email, your advertisement occupy too much currently.

That’s strange… I got the same screenshots except with ads in them.

Rick Hallihan Spotted the Windows Live Local Van! « Live-tr News | Blog October 20, 2006 at 2:09 pm

[…] In fact the day before yesterday I told Rick Hallihan about the Windows Live Mail M8 Ad Survery as I thought he might be interested in it as he seems to like Technolgy related stuff like Windows Live etc, and he well he pointed me to a post he posted about seeing the Windows Live Local Van parked up at a rest area near mile 140 on the Ohio turnpike in the US, he told me about his Windows Live Local Van post because he saw my Windows Live Local Beta Van post which requested more people to tell me about their Windows Live Local van spottings, funny thing is though I originally came accross his site after seeing a post by Robert Scoble which pointed to his very first post about seeing the van when he had only seen it in Windows Live Local Street-Side Preview, so yeah I wonder how I ever missed his second post about actually seeing the van in real life, oh well no matters now just glad he pointed me to it.
