Microsoft 10 is now live on the air

Microsoft’s evangelism group has now launched a new community web site called “10”

My team and I have been working night and day for some time to launch an all new community called 10. Our dream is to create a place for those people who want to use technology to change the world.

Every weekday at 10:00 am (PST) we’ll update 10 with a new video that highlights people, their passions and often the technology they are using. At the end of each week we compile these videos into a full length show with some extra surprises for you.

In addition to the show, we’re launching a number of blogs for the enthusiast covering a wide range of topics. Our blogs will be written by Microsoft employees, members of the 10 community or a mixture of both.

We just posted our first daily show (a little early so we could do some final testing) this weekend which is a trip to KEXP with Laura and Tina who are now a part of my team.  You’ll want to tune in each day to get a feel for what the show is all about.  Trust me, I think their will be a little of something for everyone it really is a tech variety show.

Tomorrow we’ll post a video to Channel 9 (a sister site of 10) that walks through the technology we used to build 10.  In building 10 we paid close attention to the finer details like being able to participate in the conversations while watching a video or little things like pausing the player when you want to sign in to the site.  It is a very asynchronous experience.

So we’re still up tonight, fine tuning the site and bringing to a close a very hard sprint by my team.  With any site launch their will be hiccups and bugs, but we’ll fix those and keep moving forward.

The real fun part happens now anyhow, which is taking the feedback from its initial members and adjusting to create a place that everyone wants to be a part of…..

See you on 10!

Postscript:

1.  We’ve gotten a few diggs already and Robert has posted a note on his blog as well.
2.  We just uploaded a video to channel 9 that walks you through the site and how it was built.
