Live Earth Goes Live on MSN in the UK

With the eagerly awaited Live Earth concerts only weeks away, MSN, the events’ exclusive online media partner today launches its Live Earth UK website at http://liveearth.uk.msn.com. The site is packed full of information on the artists, events and wider green issues to give people all the information they need in the run up to this monumental worldwide music event.

In addition there will be links to interactive maps available via Microsoft’s Virtual Earth, enabling people to see bird’s-eye, aerial, and satellite views of concert cities and venues.

Visitors to the site will find in-depth editorial coverage about climate change – the underlying goal of Live Earth along with details of how they can make a difference. In addition, a number of NGO organizations, including Friends of the Earth, The Environment Agency, Energy Saving Trust , Stop Climate Chaos, The Climate Group and Climate Impact Programme have teamed with MSN to provide insightful content on a variety of climate change subjects for the MSN Live Earth site.

As the event draws closer the site will feature a video player with DVD-style navigation, giving people the opportunity to watch clips about Live Earth and the host countries, as well as view artist videos. Visitors will also have the ability to create their own play lists to listen to and share with friends.  On 7th July, the player will allow music fans to easily switch between live footage of the concerts, plus celebrity and artist interviews.

Peter Bale, Executive Producer, Microsoft Online Services Group UK, says, As the exclusive online media partner for Live Earth, we are able to give our 465 million monthly users around the world an exciting, interactive experience that no other media can offer that will not only entertain but also educate about climate change and what steps individuals can take.

Live Earth is about engaging a global audience with tools to tackle the climate crisis, and MSN plays an instrumental role in helping Live Earth reach its unprecedented audience, said Kevin Wall, Live Earth founder and producer. LiveEarth.MSN.com is the only place where people can join our movement anywhere, anytime.

MSN works with leading experts devoted to environmental causes around the world including The Alliance for Climate Protection (http://www.allianceforclimateprotection.org), Conservation International (http://www.conservation.org) and Environmental Defense.
