Is the train that leaves oxford this afternoon, the same train with just a different engine. Or is it just a normal one. Only found out about this trip this morning, too late to see it leaving Paddington, Maybe a chance to see it when it returns ?

Excursions come at the bottom of the pile, so they can often run late or be timed differently as the day progresses. Theycan be early too so arrive in good time: –

Paddington 0923
Slough 0951
Maidenhead 0959
Reading 1015
Didcot 1041
Oxford 1119
Its then a diesel on the way back because the engine has to get back home to Scotland before midnight.

PS Its not just the carriages, its the real engine they use in the filming too…

It departs paddington station at 9:30 and arrives at oxford 2 hours latter. (not reading).
