My Minecraft Server – Cooming Soon!

Now that I’m back online (see post here) and after being banned from a Minecraft Server (see post here), I was hoping to announce the launch of my Minecraft server – making the ip public today, but unfrotunetly after Notch’s last update well (see here – as quoted below):

As I’m sure many of you are aware, the 1.2 Update for Minecraft is about to be released.

Multiplay’s services rely on the use of hMod to be able to control the server and provide you with all of the features you find in Clanforge, in particular world management and Live Control/RCON.

We’ve also experienced in the past that fresh updates of Minecraft are very unstable and any addons you have on your server will break. Basically, a great deal of disruption which can be avoided by not upgrading until key addons have been updated and any base server code bugs can be fixed by Notch.

Because of these reasons we’ll be doing the same we did with the last major Minecraft update, and keeping our servers running 1.1 until the release becomes more stable and a hMod/Bukkit version compatible with the new update is released.

To continue playing on your server you’ll need to make sure you have the correct version of the client still installed on your machine.

We’ll be adding a download that contains the correct files and instructions on how best to use it very soon, so watch this space!

Downgrade to the old version now!

To use this you need to:-
Instructions:

  1. Make sure your Minecraft is up to date (the beta version at this time).
  2. Open an Explorer Window (Win Key + E) change to the minecraft directory
“%APPDATA%\.minecraft\bin” or “User/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin” on the MAC, you can do this by pasting it into the address bar (without the quotes)
  3. Delete everything except the version file, and if you’re on a MAC leave the “natives” folder, this is what minecraft checks to make sure the client is up to date.
  4. Download this file and extract the contents of the zip to into the bin folder above.

Full Mac instructions are in this post (Thanks to gblax123)

Now you have your Beta files, and your correct version file, which means.. you can now play again!
Just load up MC login as usual and connect up to your MC server, and voila.

But hey if you really want to test my server out and are willing to downgrade you minecraft version to 1.1 *shakes head* then let me know and I’ll send you the ip address via email! 🙂

So yeah as the title says… My Minecraft Server – Cooming Soon! *I hope*

Edit: Server now up at play.yams.me

Edit 06/04/2011: My Minecraft server has progressed a lot since I wrote this post, please check us out, also forums located at http://www.darrenstraight.com/minecraft/
