Minecraft Bans on the up for May 2011

Wow what a crazy day on my Minecraft Server (Yet Another Minecraft Server). I have had to ban a total of 12 people so far today! That has to be a record, but it’s not a record I am proud to say we have achieved on the server but unfortunately some people just don’t follow the rules.

I will not tolerate people coming on the server and deliberately breaking and entering into peoples houses and/or stealing from peoples chests, or worse destroying public community areas that are there for the community to enjoy.

I can accept light breaking of glass and such in certain circumstances but some of the stuff people do is ridiculous and then they lie through their teeth saying they didn’t do it when the event logs clearly show they did. I despise liars!

I always try and give people a second chance where possible, I’m not a major fan of banning (though today it may seem so today) because I myself was banned from a Minecraft Server and that was the whole reason why I set up YAMS. I always try and jail people first and let them explain themselves as to why they did what they did. If the incident was small and they acknowledge straight away that they were wrong then I will normally unjail them straight away and teleport them to rules room to re-read the rules. However if the case is more severe they will normally be left in jail while they think about their actions (possibly muted if they constantly demand to be let out). While they are jailed I will gather all evidence to see if I can justify a ban or not. As I will only ban if I can justify it. If they are banned, when possible their damage will be rolled back and any materials they obtained will be handed out to the community.  Also I sometimes do voting and let the layers decide wherever or not they should be given a second chance, but this only happens if they have only lightly broken the rules.

Another thing that I will not tolerate is foul language, there’s just no need for it, we have people of all ages on the server and I don’t want anyone having to hear some of the stuff people rudely come out with! In this case I normally mute them if it’s not so bad but when it’s words such as F**, C** and worse I will normally ban them as the rules clearly say no swearing and such profanity has no place on my server.

I just wish people would read the rules and all the information we have clearly laid out, we have designed it in such a way that it’s not to much nor to little either, as we have optional floors of information that though is very useful isn’t 100% necessary to read, though we would like it if everyone did, because most of the time when people ask a question (like where can i build my house) the answers are there.

I hope the bans won’t continue to go up but I guess it’s not something I can control – well certainly not the attitude of the players – I certainly don’t want towhite list or make the server private. We are so successful because we are a great public minecraft server. I don’t want to lose that, we so get lots of great people coming on.

And just in case anyone is wondering – yes I do unban, but only very occasionally, there hasn’t been many cases, an when I do that member must agree on certain conditions, which if they break they will be banned again with immediate effect. We have a forum where users can request to be unbanned from out Minecraft Server at the following link:

Or they can see a brief reason for being banned here:

If you are up for it and would like to join a fantastic and friendly community then you can join my UK Public Minecraft Server, Yet Another Minecraft Server (YAMS), at the following IP Address:
