Yet Another Minecraft Clone Crafted
Believe it or not, at this moment in time there’s a Minecraft Clone called Crafted on the Apple App Store, the game is a cross between Minecraft and Terraria, in the sense that it’s basically Minecraft but in 2D and it can be yours 69p / 99c.
I’ve added some screenshots below that I’ve taken. I wonder if anything will be filled (Lawsuit) against this as infringement of copyright or if Mojang will embrace this. Additional Information for Mojang AB: If you want this game to get removed, drop me a line and I will remove it immediately. Thanks. Every texture is redrawn by me (although they seem ripped off), and the sounds are from freesound.org.
Updated 21:40: Latest news from Domp, the creator/developer of Crafted.
Everyone is complaining about the textures of Crafted. Although they are all remade by me, it still looks like they are stolen from minecraft. I’m honest, I don’t like this.
I’m going to change all ripped-off textures from Crafted so it won’t look like a complete ripoff. After that, Crafted will be a complete new looking game. Please understand that this will take 1 or 2 days.

This game is a ripoff of two games in my eyes
both Minecraft and Terraria (but mostly Minecraft)
and I hope this kind of infringement is something

Wow why people complaining about “ripoffs” Notch himself said that he was inspired by infiniminer and other games. its the same thing you saying “mw2 is a ripoff from doom” That is how game indrusty works, people inspire eachother!

Dylan: The fact that we can’t see that the textures are different from Minecraft is the problem. The creator of Crafted said that he “redrew” all the textures, but what does that matter if they look exactly like Minecraft?
For one thing, that makes people likely to think that this is an official Minecraft for iOs, since it looks like it. Many people buy cheap games like this without reading and just looking at a few pictures. Making something that so blatantly looks like Minecraft is definitely going to sell him a few copies.
For another, making textures that look exactly like Minecraft means that he didn’t create any original art, even if he “redrew” them. If I go to an art museum, sit down and look at some of the simpler to create modern art and just go ahead and redraw it on my notepad, I could probably do that well enough so “you can’t see” that it is redrawn by me. That is what we call a copy, not original work. No matter if I drew every single line myself, I did not create that art.
If you compare Minecraft to games that it is inspired by, things are very different. Infiniminer, the biggest inspiration, looks and plays very, very differently from Minecraft. There are obvious similarities – just like there are obvious similarities between Minecraft and Terraria, but they are also obviously their own games. That is something you can see both from a glance at some pictures and from playing the games. Minecraft is no more a ripoff of Infiniminer than Duke Nukem 3D is a ripoff of Doom.
