#27111 09/01/2016 - YAMS 5th and Final Year Anniversary

Posted by Zinc_Chills on 01 February 2016 - 03:26 AM

YAMS may be on it's way out, but this will always be the best community server I've ever been on and I do not regret having over two years of fun on this server.

I may not be much of a minecraft guy anymore, but no server can top the fun and friendships I've had here.

*glass raise* Here's to the passing of YAMS.  It's going away, but will not be forgotten.

You all have a good one.

#26817 No Slimes to Be Seen

Posted by Zinc_Chills on 19 April 2015 - 03:25 PM

I went to the green line and managed to find two slimes and got the slime balls that I was looking for, but the world boundry blocks off likely 80% of the swamp, so it's hard to get the slimes if they aren't almost at the edge of the swamp.

#26493 Name Changes

Figured I would be the first to ask, but how will minecraft username changes be treated?  If we decide to undergo a username change, should we just make a topic that informs of this change?

I can supply the iron blocks, snow blocks, and diamond blocks. I don't have silk touch sadly.  I'll see what else I can get.

#26442 Glitched Mobs and Chunks

Posted by Zinc_Chills on 15 February 2015 - 12:49 AM

It's been a while since I was actively involved in YAMS, but I currently have a rather large problem with my minecraft at the moment that one of you might know about.

I was working on a single player map for myself that was a floating island, so I brought down my render distance to make it foggy enough to ensure that the ground below could not be seen, which worked just fine.  However, once I was working on another world that did not require the fog, I turned my render distance way up back to what it would normally be and the problems started.

Once I put my render distance back up, the chunks started behaving very erratically where I had brief moments of being able to see through them and blocks that were being broken did not visually appear to be broken.  Once this happened, I put my render distance back down and the chunk errors stopped happening.

However, once night arrived, it became apparant that mobs had become messed up too.  They appeared almost always invisible with only a shadow, held bow, or occasional floating head to display where they were (they acted normally other than visual issues).  I decided to bring the render distance back up to see what would happen to the mobs.

Once I turned it up, the mob issue became even worse as they were still mostly invisible, but certain textures to the mobs became grossly enlarged and rather frightening-looking.  To make matters worse, instead of chunks just appearing momentarily invisible, chunks started flickering duplicate glitched chunks that were almost identical and appeared seemingly infinite.

I have closed my game and tried bringing up the render distance again, but the chunk errors and mob visual glitches are still prevelent, although some mobs look completely normal while chunks still glitched out and other mobs maintain the glitched state.

I cannot find how to fix this at the moment and was hoping that one of you may have come across this before.

Here is a link to some of the screenshots I managed to take of the chaos.

#26100 Been A While

Posted by Zinc_Chills on 29 September 2014 - 09:42 PM

I just thought I'd make a post on here for the first time in likely over a year.  I am now in post secondary and pursuing the trade industry and have been well.

Although I have not been on YAMS for more than a few minutes to say hi to someone if they are online for a while, I have most certainly not forgotten what this little server has given.  After 3 years of playing minecraft, I have still never found another server that boasts such a tight-knit community and organised structure as YAMS does.  The work put in to this server by Darren and all other staff members is very admirable and seldom is there a server that is so genuine in ensuring that the people of the server have a good time.

....I have never said this before...but when I first joined the server, my intentions were not exactly to make a positive difference in the server, but then something happened, when I was caught for breaking a few rules and made very close to being banned, I was genuinely upset at what I had done because I had not yet gone on a server where the people really mattered to me; YAMS changed this when I was hit by how close and formulated the server was and that I had disrupted it with nothing to show for it.  That is when my view of multiplayer playing was firmly changed and I decided to actively contribute to the server and try to stand out in a way that I would be remembered not as a cookie-cutter nuisance, but as someone of merit that was enjoyable to have around.

The bottom line is this: I wish to thank all of you for bestowing in me the moral values for multiplayer that have stuck with me ever since and kept me from ever going on a server with the intention of impacting it in a negative way again.  There is much that I wish to say, but I am unable to say them without tripping over my own words.

I wish you all the best for the future.

I'm kinda coming out of left field by suddenly saying this, but why not bring back the noteblock competition?  I may not exactly be on regularly anymore, but that's something that I'd DEFINATELY return for!  :)

#23137 Pokemon X and Y - Generation 6

Sounds cool in theory, but in competitive battling and battling websites such as pokemonshowdown these mega forms would most likely have to be banned.  :(

p.s. If anything needs a mega evolution, it's dunsparce!!!!!!

But are they really evil? I mean they mess things up, they always get hurt, they sing on the job!!! And Gru is a hero now?! (Spoiler alert!)

Hush! I haven't seen the second one yet! I do NOT want to be spoiled on the plot!  :O

At least they were evil in the sense that they would be glad to help with Gru's schemes. (i.e. the shrink ray and the rocket)
