Hello and welcome to Maplehold,
Maplehold has some very interesting scenery and has 3 different biomes in a small area around the welcome centre, you'll have to go there and explore a bit to see the scenery although some of it will become quite obvious as you are travelling there! Maplehold is a town based on wood. Pine wood, birch wood, oak wood and even jungle wood! It is based in the south of YAMS and will be needing plenty of help from the community very soon to keep it growing!
Hope to see you there soon - The Maplehold team.
Town buildings and attractions include:
The Bridge The Enchantment and potions building The Library The Tree house The Mill The Lumberyard Town plot regulations:
Materials for main outside walls:
Oak, spruce, birch & jungle planks/slabs as main walls. Oak, spruce, birch & jungle logs for detail (corners/ rims). Acacia and dark oak are not currently allowed. Materials for main outside roof:
Oak, spruce, birch & jungle planks/slabs and stairs. Oak, spruce, birch & jungle logs as extra detail. Acacia and dark oak are not currently allowed. Materials for other outside areas within plot area:
All types of glass for windows. All types of fences, iron bars, walls for balcony rails. Small amount of other materials for outside furniture such as lampposts, glowstone. seats, tables etc Dimensions and plot sizes:
Your plot size is 14x14 this includes your house walls. Do not build on or over the imaginary plot border marked in the 4 corners by fences and redstone lamps. You must only have 2 levels above ground to your house. You may have a pointy roof with an attic inside. Basements are allowed, you will be encased in bedrock. Exceptions to going over plot line by 1 block only:
Slopped roof overhang using stairs or slabs. One high row of leaves as a shrub around the house base. Flowers + pots, ferns, vines, tall grass and bushes. Signs, torches and trap doors flush against your wall. Small window boxes at 4 or more blocks above ground. If not sure just ask! Don't forget we have /modreq Eviction / House removal due to inactivity:
If you are going to be inactive please tell us for how long by posting in the forums or leaving signs at house. If you are inactive for months, don't take part in the community, break town rules or even just login and out to try and reset your inactive period we may remove your house and you will have to start back in sandbox! :( If you would like to use any other material not specified here you must contact the staff member in charge of this town to have it reviewed.
We ask the above so all houses fit in nicely with the town style.
When asking for sandbox approval you do not need to specify which part of the town you want to live in, only the main town name.
When you are approved please move into the first available plot next to someone instead of going out of the way.

changingtuna88 reacted in 22/06/2013 - YAMS and Minecraft 1.6
I have been testing CraftBukkit 1.6 this morning with the YAMS world to see what happens and I can confirm ocelots are a problem! The spawn rate of them is way too high. It's crazy!
Horses can be found in our current world (plains biome) but requires a lot of wild animal killing before you find one, this is because animals are persistent which means in theory they wont despawn (even unloaded chunks) and no more will spawn when the limit is reached. So you have to kill animals to allow for new ones to spawn!
I do have a command to kill animals (only works if chunk is loaded) and sometimes I use it to get wild animal count flowing again however it also currently kills horses, both wild and tamed... so animals in the plain biome will need killing manually if you want to see horses appear.
I spent a long time going around killing stuff and eventually nearly an hour latter I saw 2 horses, I stole the parent horse away from the baby and took him to spawn, the foal didn't follow.
I will keep you updated as always but for now we are staying on 1.5.2. Also 1.6.2 will be out soon so it's pointless updating now to 1.6.1, this release does fix quite a bit of the non bukkit bugs, like not being able to place signs on fences with text! :S

changingtuna88 reacted in First time playing here
I've just finished playing here for the first time and I can say that I love this server!
A friendly server like this is exactly what I've been looking for and I definitely found it here (thank you SwanofWar).
I would also like to thank Jorgmeisterwork for showing me around and generally helping me.
(BTW: Norway is a beautiful place, although too sunny )

changingtuna88 reacted in Spawn Town Horse Stable [OFFICIAL]
Stables are finished for now, me and kola had to alter some details as there was an issue with the slabs outside being used to jump the fences and also you could not turn properly inside because of the middle fences (I tested the world in 1.6). As an added addition we also added pressure plates to make it easier to get in. We will test further when 1.6 is on YAMS.

changingtuna88 reacted in Build Challenge #4 - Metropolis 2013 [OFFICIAL]
Wow we haven't done a build challenge in so long!
That's why when namscupcake made a wish in the indoor wishing well (inside the shopping centre) that she wanted to do another Metropolis world that I jumped on this opportunity to revive them. After all the first build challenge we did was a Metropolis, so seemed fitting that the next build challenge after so much time was another Metropolis.
I have consulted with nams and she has chosen (I wanted it to be her choice as its her wish) that this Metropolis (City) will be made from scratch in a new world using creative mode (last year we did it in survival).
Confused?
Ok so basically I have setup a creative world where you "should" all work together to build a Metropolis, a city that could be out of real life. The city should have a road system and can include skyscrapers that reach the limit of our atmosphere.
There should also be some sort of public transport system. An example for this could be an underground rail system (styled on the London Underground) or an above ground one (like the Nolan Gotham City)
Tell everyone that you know to come and help out you only have 1 week. Let's make this better then last years.
Wait what happened last year?
Well it just so happens that I have reopened last years metropolis 2012 world as a view only world, you can find the portal at the bottom of the spawn tower in the build challenge section. You will not loose any items or experience levels by going to this world, just /home or /spawn to get out of it.
What about this years?
The portal for the current Metropolis is also down there too, just be aware to not take any items or experience levels with you that you don't want to loose as once in that world the only way back is to go into survival mode (/gm 0) and kill yourself.
Well I hope you all have fun, please use your imagination and creativity to it's fullest to build a wonderful city.
Thanks to nams for her wish, if you want a wish to come true visit the shopping centre indoor wishing well and make a wish too, this isn't the first wish I have made come true from there and certainly wont be the last...

this has been done, also altered some of the surrounding embankments to the area so it didn't look as much of a drastic change from sand to grass. currently waiting for grass to grow so can bonemeal it to make it look prettier.....
edit: ahh the terraforming was number 2 on list, guess I done that part now as well
further edit: have kind of been busy with the bonemeal on most of Maplehold mountains. as they all looked bare when I was wandering around. now they have some life and colour to them.

changingtuna88 reacted in Spawn Town Horse Stable [OFFICIAL]
So! I kinda felt like having a go at a stable because I am pretty excited for this next update I used the current spawntown building materials which were stonebrick and spruce logs for walls, and oak planks for roofs as I felt it would help it to fit in I didn't know how many horses we're planning on keeping there so I made two pens for two horses, but I'm sure we could fit two in each if we tried! In terms of the building itself I wanted to make it interesting and give it a variety of levels. I used shallow curves for the roof to give it a unique look-curves are cool!
So anyways the building itself! I'm aware some of you don't know where testbuild is, so I've included some pictures for you guys
This is a front view of the Stable itself.
This is a side view looking at the tower.
A side view looking from the other way.
The interior, it's a little bare as I didn't quite know what to put in there!
I also put in a little prize board for the awards the horses could win
And finally this picture shows one of the pens, and me feeding one of the horses (although I couldn't quite find any so I had to make do with some cows instead )
Anyways I hope you guys like it, and feel free to add any feedback if you have any!

hiya all
just me again
Well it has taken almost a full day and some of last night but Snowheim is now the proud owner of the unique feature that is a walkway/path cover running throughout the whole town.
If you like to walk in the snow then find one of the many stairways leading to the walkways and a enjoy a whole new view around town.
If you like to stay covered over then why not take a stroll down our new pathways with their fabulous new design and higher roof part allowing a partially better view of town.
Also don't forget we still have our tunnel system running under the town, just go downstairs in the welcome centre, walk around the stairs and past the wishing fountain (don't forget to make a wish ) and through the double doors.
you will also have noticed down there a suggestion board for the town, and an area with updates on current town builds and what materials may be needed. There is also a chest there to donate things for the builds.
it just leaves me to say massive thanks to all who helped out over the last few days and I look forward to what ever comes next for our little town.

Free build weekend is now over, I have closed access to the world and removed your items, if you have a ridiculous amount of xp on you (obtained from freebuild world) please could you get rid of it by dying in lava or something, saves me having to clear it myself, I'm sure I can trust you all right?
Here are some images of the world.
We will return some day!

Ok well castle wise we have made some headway on the eastern side of the mountain-thank you to everyone who has helped by the way, either through terraforming or donating, either way you're awesome! We've managed to get most of the eastern side up to the current peak level, and after exams have died down for me and others I hope to get underway with making the North and South of the mountain more natural (particularly on the overhangs, as they look a little too unsupported). Once the base is done we can start work on creating the peak-which I think should perhaps be made of stone (leave your thoughts below obviously!). I think a steep peak with the castle built into it will look much better than a simple castle built on a flat mountain
Down below the mountain a new park has been finished with some seating and lots of trees and flowers have sprung up everywhere!
I have also managed to set up an area on the peak now for donations and stuff if you'd like to give materials. There are also instructions for terraforming up there for if I'm not on and you'd like to give it a go!
I have to ask though before you take any materials from the donation chests to get an ok from me-just so we know what's been taken, otherwise it could get pretty confusing! There's also a chest up there for ores and minerals collected through terraforming.
Finally I'd like to say thanks again for all the help so far in the project that's been given-and I know it's only just started but I'm sure it'll be a fun build!
PS. I'd also like to see a few more members helping out-us staff don't bite you know!

ok have been dicussing the idea of an adittional walk way on top of the current paths roofing area. having had a walk around it all myself today i found that the viewing of houses is much better from up here. and by keeping the roof part, those that want to stay covered can. I want to try and do a little something for all the residents, so feel this may be the better option. It was darren who suggested it ages ago and wasnt until now that i give it some thought.
please residents let me know what you all think of this idea. at the end of the day it is your town and i would like you all to have a say in any changes made. that is why personally i havent voted as i am happy to do what ever you think is needed.
please please please feedback on this, so we can get started on things to do in the town.
p.s Luke hows the terraforming going for the castle, been a while since we had an update from you.
