  1. Hey Jake (or should I still call you Tuna?)

Long time no speak. There's always going to be some of us lurking the depths of these forums. I'm always on the look out for any life on here just to say hi.

I've literally only got discord this past week (I'm late to the boat I know  :P) so trying to learn how it works. Great idea setting up the server btw, I've joined it!

    The original Ender,

    Ryan

  2. Hey Shadow (the username I remember you as)!. Nice to see a familiar name coming back to the forums after quite a while. Not sure if you''ll get a notification for this reply but oh well.

I usually come back to the forums for nostalgia's sake and to see if anyone posts anything (which you have). I have the forums bookmarked still - it'll be the end of an era when I get rid of it! It feels like the forums are stuck in time. No new posts, no new white list requests. As an ex-mod, just thought I'd say thank you for the kind words. I don't think I ever had as much fun with Minecraft than I did playing with the community on the server.

The original YAMS Enderman (since Beta 1.8!),

  3. I can't go without posting on here.

After being banned off the first server I came across, I decided I would like to find a family friendly server, preferably in the UK. That's where I came across YAMS, where I joined on the 15th June 2011. Only being a small server then (Sandbox being only 15 plots!) and building a spherical tower which subsequently had lava thrown on it (I will never forget that haha) and having Rob (Madrad) clean it up, it was quite a bustling place. I watched many people join and leave when I was first starting out, and boy am I glad I stayed.

I knew this would come at some point in time, and I'm upset to see it happen, but endings are always bound to happen. The events, the castaways, the ark, the restructuring (Twice!), all these things are things I am glad to be a part of. These things kept the community going. I have met some wonderful people along the way, in game and also in person. It seems odd telling people how I met people through a game online. Being staff was a big thing for me too. I felt like I could be trusted for once making my way up to moderator never thinking that would have been possible.

Darren, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you. This server and it's people were like a second family. We enjoyed things together, we chatted on mumble about silly and odd things. We built together and most importantly, we supported each other.

I was 16 when I joined YAMS and will be 21 this year aswell as being in my final 3rd year of Uni in September. I cannot fathom how long I spent on the server, being on pretty much every single day for at least 2-3 years. Begging my sister to let me use her laptop to come on and eventually getting my own that would run the game.

To my fellow staff, past and present, to the players that helped build this community, and to Darren, a very very big thank you.

Your friendly neighbourhood Enderman from Enderville,

    Ryan

  4. ...but, there will be one next spring...

    Hey everyone!

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about MINECON lately, because before this time last year everyone knew the date and location and ticket info for MINECON 2013. While we don’t have a set date for the next MINECON just yet, I wanted to let everyone know that it won’t be until some time in 2015. I’m shooting to have it in the spring in London!

While we’d love to do MINECON every year and it’s the only event we do as a company, we want to make sure we can give it the attention it needs, and that means that springtime next year will work best!

As soon as I have confirmed information it’ll be out there. We always announce as soon as we confirm with the venue and have a signed contract, but never before, because we want to make sure we can follow through with the event and we never want people to start planning to attend something that might not happen. So watch out for information in the coming months!

    Vu – @vubui

If it does end up being in London, I may have a chance of actually going!

  5. Hi there.

At the moment, it is the summer holidays in the uk (where most of the staff are actually from) so that means people are on holiday, spending time with family and doing everyday things. Or if you're me, working. We don't spend all day on the forums so it's hard to get to people straight away. We take time out of our days to keep this server going and sometimes we can't do things like whitelist people. I hope you understand :)

Now that's out of the way, before I whitelist you, is your forum name the exact minecraft username? I ask this as it is case sensitive :)

    Cheers,

    Ryan

  6. Hi there!

Welcome to YAMS. I have now whitelisted you.

Once you join, you will be greeted by a CSO (community support officer) ,or another member of staff available, and will be given a tour. This will include being shown the rules, sandbox, mining world etc. But, if there are no staff (or even members) on to give you a tour, please make your way to the rules room and read them. Once read, you can carry on down spawn tower (there are other rooms worth reading, but are optional).

North of spawn tower is sandbox, this is where you will start, get yourself approved and move to a town. The sandbox rules are to the left of the sandbox entrance and these should be read, they will help you in the long run.

If you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask!

    See you in game,

    Ryan :)

  7. Hi there,

Welcome to YAMS. I have now whitelisted the above username :)

Once your son joins, he will be greeted by a CSO (community support officer), or another member of staff available, and will be given a tour. This will include being shown the rules, sandbox, mining world etc. But, if there are no staff (or even members) on to give him a tour, he should make his way to the rules room and read them. See you in game,

    Ryan :)

  8. So with E3 2014 at a close, what did you think of it this year? Did any of you tune in to the conferences?

I have to say that this year has been the best for a few years now, especially from the console makers themselves. We got a taste of the new Halo (as well as the Master Chief Collection) from Microsoft, from Sony we got the new Uncharted reveal and from both a metric tonne of multiplatform releases. Then there's Nintendo, revealing the new Legend of Zelda (which looks absolutely stunning), more news on other titles already announced and many new games.

What games are you excited about? The game I'm probably the most excited for is the Legend of Zelda. We only got a small glimpse of in game footage but my gosh it looks beautiful with the art direction. I can't forget Mario Maker too. That looks like it could be fun (and a way to lose friends :P)

    I'll just leave this here.

(Gameplay at about the 3min mark)

  9. Right.

I've been away for another few weeks because I have been very very busy with college, especially my Final Major Project and everything else that needed to be handed in. Life has been very hectic for the past 2 months.

Anyway I've still had no replies to my comment and if no one does i'll just start something that I think needs doing and get people to help out there and then.
I won't be back for another week or so still as I don't officially finish college until Fri 20th June. Then after that, I've finished college for good and I'm off for summer! (And work, of course.)
I really do need to get back on as there's a lot of things I need to sort out around the town (mainly evictions etc).

    See you all soon,

    Ryan :)

  10. It would be a shame to see the gravel game go. Was a good game to play but I think with no one using it the best thing would be to use the area for something else. I liked the idea of having a second paintball arena and maybe having it a specific theme (could be in the theme of a game series?). A horse track could be quite nice too. The YAMS Grand National :)

  11. Hi everyone,

So we don't have to look through the topic, things suggested but not done are:

    Water Park

    Street lights

    Park Refurb

Now onto the bulk of the post. Since I haven't been a for a while things have pretty much gone dead in the town, with no posts for 2 months (partly my fault). Now I'm sort of back, I want to get this town back up and running at full steam. What do you want to see built in the town? We want things that will want to make people live in the town. Big builds that everyone can be a part of. We have plenty of space for builds so get thinking!

I will be doing a bit of terraforming around the town to make things look a bit more natural as there are some places that just don't look right :)

    Thanks!

    Ryan

  12. Hi there and welcome to the forums.

Before you are whitelisted, could you tell us a bit more about yourself? Do you have a favourite building material or play any other games? Maybe you have some hobbies outside of minecraft?

Also, who are these two friends? It's nice to see people inviting new faces :)

    Thanks!

    Ryan
