East: Farefall

Recommended Posts

Welcome to Farefall,

A quiet yet wide-spread town located in the East side of the YAMS network. Farefall has a large but peaceful lake running alongside it helping to break up the landscape into nothing short of beauty. The town has 4 regions within itself which are yet to be named by the public, all the regions still belong to the town and are very much a part of it.

Here at Farefall we intend on putting you first; The community. With public buildings, attractions and general landscaping keeping the town looking good there is always going to be something for you to do.

We have a simple but effective farm in place which is open to expansion if the members wish to do so and if the needs of the town require it, this is to be discussed once we've settled in.

Farefall Welcomes You.

Town buildings and attractions include:

 • The Clock tower
 • The Observatory
 • The boat race area
 • The Foundary
 • The public park
 • Yambucks
 • The Farefall Maze

Town plot regulations:

 • You must only have 2 levels above ground to your house.
 • You may have a pointy roof with an attic inside.
 • Basements are allowed, you will be encased in bedrock.

 • If you are inactive for months, don't take part in the community, break town rules or even just login and out to try and reset your inactive period we may remove your house and you will have to start back in sandbox! :(

If you would like to use any other material not specified here you must contact the staff member in charge of this town to have it reviewed.

We ask the above so all houses fit in nicely with the town style.

When asking for sandbox approval you do not need to specify which part of the town you want to live in, only the main town name.

When you are approved please move into the first available plot next to someone instead of going out of the way.

Lets get the ball rolling then and make Farefall a town for the community built by the community. What would you like to see done within Farefall? Do you think anything needs changing for the better of the town? are the farms big enough? I'll get some screenshots of the town uploaded tomorrow so we can get an overhead view of the town to start modifiying it to suit the community :)

I'm sure the water has to be on the same level as the tilled dirt :/

I thought so too, that was always the case however I looked everywhere on the wiki and that part of information has now vanished! Probably after the fact that you dont need water anymore but it does help! :S

Ok well Farefall residents;

We seem to have an issue with not alot of people moving here.... myself i cant see why... i love stonebricks and i'm loving the houses so far too!

Anyway... we need to start altering and building some things, We'll start with the Farms as everyone is going to be using them and the current ones just arent suffecient enough to cope with the use...

Wheat/Sugar/Cactus/Melon/Pumpkins..... i think its a good idea to move this farms underground and make them alot bigger, reason for being underground is if we want to make them big enough for the 40 plots that we have then it would just take up wayyyy too much space above ground.

I'm thinking one entrance in the location of the current farms leading down to a hallway with 3 farm rooms coming off at either side, this will take alot of items and glowstone for lighting so if anyone would like to donate to the cause please dont hesitate to, we shall set the ball in motion at around 12 noon GMT time after i've had some sleep :)

Next job once the farms are underground and we're happy with them is animal farming, with the space where farm is currently located going to be soon empty it will leave us a perfect canvas to construct some animal farms upon. i dont just mean a bit of fence and a gate, i'm thinking much better, i'm thinking a big barn with enough pens within it to have atleast 2 pens per animal breed-able....

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding these builds.... maybe try your skills out in single player or maybe draw up some plans for the layout? post them here and we'll take a look at them!

On another note, we need to drum up some interest in Farefall as there hasnt been anyone new move in now for a few days :( unfortunately i am spending alot of time at work.... (havent had a day off for nearly 3 weeks :( ) so i aint able to drum up excitement in the town.... I'll leave this in the very capable hands of the residents of Farefall, its a town for the community which i'm hoping can be built and expanded by the community.... get involved! :)

Dont forget about the board just at the rear of the welcome centre, got something to say about the town? good or bad? got any suggestions? just want to say hi? get it posted! :)

I think thats enough reading for you all.... see you in-game! :)

Update on the farms;

The farms have been completed so are now located underground with the entrance next to the mining portal, huge thanks to ryan and joe who helped me alot today with the planting of all the crops, also a huge thanks to everyone that helped to mine out the areas for the farms, they look sweet and will definately be sufficient enough for the towns needs.

We currently have the following farms;

Wheat
Sugar
Cactus
Mushrooms- red and brown
Pumpkin
Melon

The tree farm shall also be expanded soon to suit the requirements of the town.

Where the farms were located before is going to be turned into a animal farm.... as i said previously i'm not just thinking a fenced off area or some small huts, i'm thinking bigger and better, i'm thinking a big barn building with the farms for each animal located inside it.

Now i need some ideas here, we need to keep the building to fit in with the town which is stone brick with oak logs... we need the exterior of the building designed and the internal of the building will need to be layed out with fixtures fittings and pens to breed within.... feel free to post any ideas you have for either the layout of the barn or the construction of it.... drawings/plans are a bonus ;)

CALLING ALL FAREFALL RESIDENTS....

Are we a ghost town? :s....

I'm trying here to get some public builds going, thanks to ryan and a few others the farms have been completed but i cant get any kind of ball rolling if nobody wants to put any input into what does/doesnt need doing....

The only replies i've had so far are from members of staff, this isn't a bad thing but i would really like some input from members too :(

In the approval instructions one of the things members have to do now is visit the town forum topic, of course if they don't actually move to that specific town they may not look back here! :( I suggest you branch out to other members too? Ive said it loads of time have before, but it still applies now... so listen up members!

You don't have to live in specific towns to help, so help out as much as possible! :)

I might as well reply. Started a design on single player for the barn but may need to look at how much space we have for it :P
The are size for the barn is 24 blocks wide by 25 blocks deep :)
Also maybe we could have a riverside walk along the river?
Definately a job that we can do, i'll speak to you in game regarding this :)

I'm all up for this, we can merge it in with Ryans idea of a riverside walkway if you like? maybe following the river along to the back of the residential region that is the most far away from the welcome centre (far east)... then maybe build a small bridge at the end leading to a nice park with a man made lake etc?

On another note, thanks alot to Darren, Ryan, Nams and all else that helped with the re-designing of the area around the welcome centre and with the paths that lead to the populated residential area, it looks excellent! :)

I like the idea, i guess i should start to make some stone bicks so we can start building. Is it ok if I start to pick out the areas for building and digging for the lake and path ways? We could host a triatholon-like compition that includes swimming, running, and minecraft tracks.

I like the sound of them:

Swimming: Easy to do... could just be from one place to another or have them do lengths? could have something they have to hit like a button that lights up when they reach the back wall of the pool so we know they reached. Its just a shame you cant swim fast! :( Maybe some current and such or something to make it a bit more exciting?

Running: Have gates every so often or have them have to jump fences (slabs either side).. just something to make it bit more fun! :)

Minecraft: I've only seen this done once before quite a while back, was near plankville/enderville in the old world.

You could combine everything and make it into a circuit or obstacle course like total wipe out? or this wii game see the obstacle race section: http://www.d3publish...sp?productid=86

Ok guys,

Lets get things rolling, come on!

The animal barn, is this still happening? how are we doing for resources for it? Do we have design plans for it? What happens when animals disapear as they do from time to time when I do things *looks innocently* whos going to be in charge of getting animals in there?

Riverside walk, do we know where abouts its going yet? What do we need for it?

What about the suggestion about the games etc..
Lets start with someting get it done then move onto the next project!

Tell everyone, get everyone to help (they dont have to live in the town) if they don't want to help then it's their lose! ;)

Thanks,
Darren

So I have a design for the barn.
There is 4 sections and room to expand up into the roof area. Each section has two gates so animals cant escape (now I think about it, doors would probably be better cause chickens will escape).
This is only an idea, feel free to say if you like or not and what could change.

EDIT: I have replaced the images with a link to the album - http://imageshack.us...308184419w.png/

Hey all,

Just so you know, Ryan’s going to be helping out Tyler get some of these public builds done in the town, as Tyler’s pretty busy with work at the moment so this will hopefully lower his work load! :)

Ryan says the first thing that needs to be built is the barn, so let’s get started, you already have an image above to go by and we have an area marked out. I’m sure Ryan will post some more info soon.

Don’t forget you don’t have to live in the town to help out; you just need to be willing to help.

Thanks,
Darren

Right lets get the ball rolling with this barn.
I will upload some more pictures of the barn and post a link to them on my other post so we know exactly what it looks like.
But first we need to gather some materials for the build, stonebrick, oak logs, planks etc. I will leave a chest just inside my plot for people to deposit materials.
I will dig out the size of the barn so we have the size of it and then we can start building :)

Ryan

P.S Anyone is welcome to help out on the build even if you don't live in Farefall :)
