Build Challenge #2 - Laputa [OFFICIAL]

After our scientists recently discovered portal to another world. The resident mystics, not to be outdone, decided to consult the auguries. Since they couldn't find any goats (luckily) they instead decided to visit the Oracle of Spawn Town.

The Oracle has predicted that another portal will open up and this world shall be a flat land consisting of nothing but dirt and grass. The Oracle's prophecy then went on to say "The land should not be so and for it to remain flat will be an affront to the Admins. A section of this land should instead float up from where it is and upon that floating isle shall a castle be built. This land should then be called Laputa".

As with last time spread the word for the Oracle has spoken.

The mystics have just added that the portal for this shall open upon the [s]twelth[/s] thirteenth day of the fifth month around midday in the time of Greenwich ([s]12th [/s]13th May, around about 12:00 GMT)

We are going to need lots and lots of dirt and other such foliage. Vines, water, saplings.... Would be nice to see vines hanging down from the floating island and also lakes and waterfalls flowing off the edge.

What design should the castle be?

There have probably been several floating castles throughout historical legends so there will be lots of designs that have already been 'taken'.

Nevertheless, I can't wait to get started.

And how will we get up there?

Worth noting that the public build warehouse depositor is now open - you can fill up storage minecarts with loads of materials and then press a button and it will magically take off to be sorted by the elves.

1 question would it be like a traditional castle ormore like a palace, as some of the pictures depict.

Can we have a large guardian robot made from blocks? I think it would be col if we had one in the middle of a wooded area with some flowers gorwing around it. I donated some iron blocks for iron golems, which we could also have roaming around.

Not necessarily, for example I wouldnt want the underside looking circle like. I would like too see it look like the video below! [b][color=#0000FF]Everyone[/color][/b] watch this for inspiration!

This video shows what laputa in minecraft would look like, though I wouldnt want the underside sphere to be honest as it's more the top video that I would want the underside like. But hey it's more inspiration!

I really like the first video a lot! I like how there are one or two large buildings and then pathways and small buildings...like a village

The Oracles prediction has [u]finally[/u] come true... a portal to a new world has open!

You can find this portal at the bottom of spawn tower next to the public build warehouse,all materials in there can be used for laputa, but only for laputa - anyone caught taking for their own use will be banned, there were at least two bans last time becuase people were taking for their own use - let that be a warning to you all.

Ok so I was thinking we need to decide whats going to go in the middle of the floating island, I suggest one of the following:[list=1]
[*]A castle on top of a mountain with rivers flowing down to the belows.
[*]A massive tree in the middle with castle walls surronding it and rivers around that.
[*]A combination of all of the above but still with something being at the centre/top.

I personally would like to see hills or some sort of mountains on laputa somewhere so we can have proper waterfalls and streams and valleys and such...
