I was also thinking this exact thing. If we had a castle or tree or whatever structure we decide towards one side of the island, and a elevated area that's more natural and untouched on the other side. It doesn't have to be centrally planned. We've already expressed the no perfection with the ring design and non circular outline. This can reflect the two sides of minecraft: the natural sense and the creative builder's sense.

personally i've been thinking about the underside of the island, maybe an underground cave system would be cool? it could link to the castle dungeons!

as to the castle itself, how about making it out of smooth sandstone? it would look sunny and cheerfull!

cant wait to start planting flowers and vines and making it pretty! XD

I like the idea of a sandstone castle. My only reservation is that it's a really expensive build and will require big team participation collecting materials. Maybe we could try to incorporate mix seeing as we already have a few chests full of stone.

I also made a design for the Laputa guardian statue I mentioned. Tell me what you guys think! (19x14x2)

Ok, so... Both. I like the idea of castles (obviously) but the water falls and valleys and mountains sound class.

Good work everyone that has helped so far... now we have finished most of the base... it's time to start on the top part, the plan is:[list]
[*]A mountain type hill in the centre with castle on top, probbaly not too high as we are limited on space...
[*]Castle will be stone brick with cracked brick and mossy too - it's going to be hard but we can do it if we work together! Maybe some people can make charcol (burn wood) and others can mine for cobblestone? then together put it in furnaces and craft stone bricks! We could have some temp farms if someone wants to set that up if quicker then using town ones.
[*]Along with all this there will be rivers and waterfalls flowing down from the hill.
[*]Loads of trees and flowers etc... but that can be done latter.

Work on laputa was slow this evening, but after 2 sets of broadcasts and me nagging at people too help we final got somewhere... I've atteched what we have so far... the next step as we now have a hill is too carry on gathering stone brick - we could do with some cracked and mossy, maybe someone could spare some or pay a visit to that stronghold in the minining world and bring some back?

In the mean time... castle... what should it look like, attach photos of castle you have seen either in Minecraft or real life and would like to see incoparated into the one on laputa. Im starting some sewers so would be nice to tie them in! Also we could have dungeons? and turrets and a big castle gate would be nice... Realistically, that portcullis is awesome looking. And if anyone is serious about attempting it I think it would make a fantastic addition.

Little update:

Me and DevonHD went to the mining world stronghold and came back with lots of brick (all types), we have placed it in the chest. Also EliteTyler has donated some stacks of mossy and cracked!

I could do this in a few minute or so.... but that would involve cheating, so best not...

We only have a week left, we should:[list=1]
[*]Finish the castle off, it needs rooms and also mossy and cracked outside in areas, also the courtyard, pigsty maybe?
[*]Finish walkways on the island and trees etc.
[*]Build a peasant village outside the castle.
[*]Build airships and ballons, steampunk air ballon style? Floating pirate ships etc?
[*]Anything else.

Just to add there is also a small todo list just inside the ground floor of the castle along with supplies from the warehouse.

If someone doesnt mind could they add darrens todo list onto the end of the one in the castle (1 item per sign)

Also if you honestly feel that a task is fully completed remove that sign.

On top of what I asked yesterday, does no one else have an opinion on this?

I would like to congratulate those that made the wizards tower, which looks good. I do however have something to say about the insides... they are not very wizardy are they. I have built a basement for 'Darker' magics but could someone do something with a couple off the upper levels including some bookcases, enchanting and brewing equiptment and even maybe a bed for the wizard.

If someone asks for a job todo maybe suggest to them to go on a resource hunt to fill up the warehouse.

We have 3-4 days left in Laputa building...and the YAMS Historical Society are eager to issue a report on their lastest excavation at the beginning of next month.
