Spawn Town Fun-House Remodeling [OFFICIAL]

Recommended Posts

Yes folks, it might be sad to see her go, but we are going to remodel the current fun-house. But don't be to sad, you still have a few days to cherish the current fun-house. That time is to run the course for one last time, and for all you YAMS camera men/woman to take some snapshots or videos of the community's hard work! Feel free to use the community buildings plot in the test build world to start drafting ideas, remember the rooms are underground, so you don't have unlimited space, however, feel free to visit the current fun-house to get an example of room sizes :)

Tell all your friend's about this! They may want to run the course or help the build!

Also worth seeing previous fun room topic to see what was suggested then and problems we encountered: http://www.darrenstraight.com/minecraft/index.php?/topic/2375-spawn-town-fun-room-official/

Other things to think about:

  • On the first level down one of the walls (closer to path) will not be able to be changed from stone to anything else as if you change it you will see it from the railway which will look weird.... so there's two options for that level we make the wall double thick so as to not remove the stone or we leave that side as stone or all of the room :S or lastly you could do something similar to the new police station where I made iron bars in the wall.. but of course it would still have to be stone for the most part unless you made it all glass. the other option is to have this level as the information room (more walls to place signs on) while upstairs can be more open with a reception area.

^ We solved this by just making the glass maze a little bit smaller on one side.

Sorry, about the delay, I had to clear something up >.>. Hope you guys didn't forget, we are starting to work now! Feel free to demo and work on the building. I should be on in a bit to help. Haven't really seen any suggestions for rooms yet though... :( remember, it's your descision on what u want to happen :D So, let's get to work!

Most of the demoing is done, the floors/ ceilings couldn't be taken down, as there was no block between them, but you may change them when you start building a room. The walls have already been broken, so just place blocks in the gap that is currently there. So, start brainstorming ideas!

EDIT: Don't know what u guys want to do with the end room, but as of now i am leaving the comments up.....can decide what to do when we get to it :)

EDIT 2: Scratch the floors/ceilings....it's gonna be a big pit for now.

Update? I left 2 ideas (in  spawn) for how we could space the floors, the old way or the new way of having a block space in between which allows us to have redstone etc in between floors but does mean we loose one room, but still might be better option if we want to use redstone.

If you choose one, I'm happy to lay down the floor dividers so people know size of rooms and also where ceiling + floors go.

Ok I've got fed up of waiting, so as only one other person (thanks nick) agreed with loosing one room in favour of extra space for redstone between floors, I've gone ahead and placed the foundations for the rooms.

Stone = spacing between floors, only dig up when need to place redstone etc.

Cyan = Where the flooring goes, each floor should be different like last time.

Slabs = Ceiling, each floor should be different like last time.

Okay, I think it's time we start making some decisions about what the rooms are going to be and how we're going to go about building this.  We'll need someone good with redstone (cause I'm not that person XD) to help out.  If you know where the test world is, please use it to come up with some ideas.  I'll be doing my own tinkering.

Perhaps we could come up with some themes to start out with?

That won't fit haha.

But it might work on a smaller scale.  With comparators and redstone blocks we can make a thin-layer timer that raises the ground up at random spacing and intervals to block player movement as they try to get across the floor.  I'll tinker in test build over the next few days and see what I can set up.

I'd be happy to help you with that :)

Its been over a month now, was kind of hoping this would be done by now so we could start on Halloween, no point even starting on Halloween if something easier like this fun house cant be done.. :S

I got an example placed in the test world of what the fun house entrance room might look like.  Please take a look at it, add to it if you wish, and most importantly start construction of the top floor.  Also, we need a lot more redstone workers to get the first challenge room designed and built ASAP.

Just to add to what Swan said about needing redstone workers, even if you don't know redstone you can still help, redstone isn't necessary to build fun rooms... last time we had a maze and a waterslide thing that didn't have redstone, also the mini rollercoster didnt have much redstone.

So please dont be put off, everyones welcome to help. :D

Remember you can use the test build world to help you plan ideas, if you haven't found it yet.... just follow the clues.

Did you know the Hot Air Balloons in spawn can see it...

Update from Captain Marbles and me:  Our funhouse room design is complete!

ObstacleCourse-view1.png

Obstaclecourse-view2.png

And when you enter the room, this happens:

ObstacleCourse-active.png

The goal is to get across the ever-shifting floor, choose the right pit to drop down, and make it to the next room.  If you pick the wrong one, you have to start the funhouse over from the beginning.  Come try it out in testbuild when you've got time!
