If you want to continue with Windows (easiest option in the short term ) then I would go for Windows 7, as Vista is known to be awful and Windows 8 really isn't good on normal computers. If you have the time to invest in getting used to a new system (and you may need some time and not be able to use most of your old programs) then I would install Ubuntu, which is faster and takes up less space. The problem with that is that your Windows programs won't be compatible and a lot of programs will be more difficult to install. Moving to Ubuntu is good either for programmers beginning with Linux, or for someone who just wants a fast computer and who doesn't need specific programs (Minecraft isn't that easy to install on there). (I say Ubuntu, as it is the easiest for people new to Linux. Of course, there are other distros out there.) Finally, my favourite: you could install Mac OS X, although you would need to format your drive specially for it. The installing process would be the hardest, but it would be much easier to use than Ubuntu. (I may get beaten up for this recommendation haha) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Crispy BartyJnr Barras 227 Report post Posted August 25, 2013 Yeah, W8 is made for touchscreens, but it resembles the phone too much for my liking. And the whole "here's your sign in" thing was such a faff for me; having a whole family computer. Trying to get it to not just sign in ME was a pain.
