darrenstraight 2,330 Report post Posted April 6, 2015 Our family friendly minecraft server YAMS today celebrates the opening of our 3rd main world in YAMS history. It's been a busy 2 - 3 months discussing, preparing and building it. It may not be perfect for some, but I hope at least that you will give it a try! A lot of effort has been put into it and while some bits are confusing, I don't think we can fully tune it until players start joining, so I'm looking at you! Yes you! Come and join us! It's the same ip as before: play.yams.me With the added addition of a live map website: maps.yams.me I hope to see you in game, please remember this is a big change for YAMS, so please bear with me and the rest of the staff while we still work hard to make sure this new world is running smoothly. darrenstraight 2,330 Report post Posted April 8, 2015 The new world will very soon have been open for 48 hours and I've only had a little feedback in game, if anyone can give feedback it would appreciated. A lot of time and effort was spent on this world, if feedback isn't received we cant know what we did right or wrong or where we need to improve. Its been fun starting out from scratch and having to hunt for things like farms and mining portal etc. Aiming to get my daughter online by tues night as we finally have her playing in single player worlds and seems to be doing quite well for a beginner. have already told her that there will be a quest to do (which I found fun to do) and that she would have to work it out herself (coz I am evil mwha ha ha) will pop on for a bit at some point tomorrow night after work 8pm uk time, since I have half a house standing at the minute Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Tombuktu 4 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 The quest was a little frustrating for me and my son but I think that was mainly because we were anxious to get started exploring the new world and figuring out where to build. That being said, I think it would be a great idea to add more quests. Especially if they were voluntary and had some kind of reward at the end. Perhaps something along the lines of a warp location. The freedom to build our homes in a preferred style, easy access to everyone, a centralized mining portal so people can group up and go in together if they want... There's a ton of potential to grow and expand YAMS. I would suggest we add a wooden or stone sword to the starter quest though. Spawn Town has a lot of lighting, but there is still an occasional zombie that sneaks in, and I doubt anyone wants to lose their quest item and have to start over. darrenstraight 2,330 Report post Posted May 7, 2015 Its now been a month since our 3rd main world went live, a big thank you to everyone who came on here and posted as without proper feedback we cant know whether we did the right thing or not in continuing YAMS as this server has been going for quite a long time now, since January 2011. As a little celebration, I've increased the world border in the main world so you can explore further out, there's no public build yet but you'll be able to get a sense for the world and the effort that went into making the rails, such as the terraforming and the building of the rails, especially the details on the stations or the fact that every bridge that crosses a river had to be made. I quite enjoyed making the station at the end of the yellow line, I had to hollow out an entire mountain and then make it look natural so it wasn't just a dark hollowed out cave!
