So Wyrd and I decided to go exploring...found a nice ravine, started to explore it.....

Now here's the problem with the experience orbs: when you die, you drop EVERY SINGLE ONE you've collected. If you kill a lot of things, you'll drop so much experience that it'll lag horrifically.

Now, Wyrd and I are stuck in lag so bad we were about 25 minutes behind real time by the time we logged out. This is because apparently we died without knowing we died, and we're near all of our experience orbs. Fugitive was nice and tried to come help absorb them, and thus free us from the lag....and ended up getting stuck himself.

Soooo.... we don't really know what to do. Technically, we're dead, and haven't respawned yet. Or are we still alive? It's really hard to tell. If, next time we log on, a mod or Darren would be willing to attempt to port us to spawn, perhaps that would help? I don't know.

This is half informative post, half plea for help... if none of us log on for a while, now you'll know why.

TL;DR: experience orbs are dumb

They could despawn after a while and I don't think they are supposed to all drop, but there's no way to 'lock' a level yet.

Notch needs to put a level indication. :/ That way it should lock the level. After death, you should lose only the experience from your current level.

From what I understood, that's what he wanted to do.

I think the concept is good, and the level idea is interesting; but they kinda messed up the application, I think. It's not like NPC villages that are static and a set size...these exp orbs can hit huge numbers. And there's nothing to do with them! It's like giving someone thousands of forks, but nothing to use them with, and if you drop them you get stabbed to death by forks :(
