Hey guys in case you didn't know the consumer preview for windows 8 is out (YAY!) If you want to download it that's cool but back up your stuff before hand just in case you don't like the design of it and want to revert back, or create a partition drive.

My view on my personal experience using windows 8 is that i love it. I love the metro design UI and I like there's a desktop option :D. Another good thing is that windows 8 is compatible with everything windows 7. Unfortunately somethings are available to some regions only -.-. I also like the multitasking features between the metro ui applications and the desktop. The built in social apps (email, people and messaging) are a dream and love them. Of course I'm a bit biased seeming as I have windows phone 7 :P but I'm going to keep windows 8 until it comes out fully then, probably wait until windows 9 comes out :) (the upgrade costs from each OS is too expensive)

I was using the developer preview on my tablet PC (motion m1400 in case you wanted to know). I was going to try and get the consumer preview going but it was such a hassle doing it the first time that I didn't bother (see here)

Metro works very well on a tablet (no surprises there) I'm not sure how well it will work as a desktop or laptop interface though. Also leaving the desktop paradigm in seems like a cop out, I know it's there to ease the transition for enterprise but the consumer version should be all metro, the switch between them is too jarring. Course it does mean we've got a legacy interface (the commandline, dos) inside a legacy interface (the desktop) inside the new hotness (metro) its a bit of interfaceception!

Just my 2 pence, windows 8 will be a success just because the average consumer will think: "herpa derp there's a new version of Windows. Here Microsoft, shut up and take my money." But I'm more excited for Windows 9 I think, 8 is a little softly softly the real innovation (or theft from apple XD *Feeding the trolls*) will come in the next version along. Especially once hardware manufactures figure out the best form factor for touch, mouse and keyboard interactions.

See you in Blockspace

I have seen one of my friends use windows 8 preview, As i saw him using it, it looked more like it was for touchscreen phones and tablets. Anyone agree?
