I was on the server yesterday, when I found that some new players were there.

One died when he got killed by a creeper, and I was riding one a mine cart right into his items. I promised to return them.
I noticed he had loads of iron and chests, which was weird, as he had just joined the server the same day. Iron doesen't normally spawn anywhere near there, so I checked the Public Mine.
I noticed 4 chests were missing, and many other items were too. I saw that these same items were dropped by him.
I warned him, seeing as he was new. I saw him with an iron weapon again, and went on the journey to the centre of the earth.
I noticed he only took a few things, but I noticed the gaps. He was banned by a mod after ^^

Second time, a very polite (suspicious) new player came on. I saw him go into my house. He then took 64 pieces of wood and who knows what?
I don't know what happened to him.

Please can you put a owner-only lock on things or something until we find a way to allow/disallow people taking things?

If people take and are found out (we have logs that log everything) then they will be warned/jailed/banned depending on the circumstances as we are a community here and should be able to trust having our chests unprotected!

Of course there's dishonest people but thats why they will get punished... we take stealing very serious at YAMS, it cleary says on the rule board dont check chests that dont belong to you and are not public.

I will not put chest lock ad I beileve if you really have things you dont want found them hide them well... it is possible even from hacks... of course I understand people will always find them somehow so that's why we have bank accounts, dont ask about them or how to get one though, when we feel you are privledge to own one we will come you to then.. not before.. and certainly not to anyone that asks for one! ;-)

As for public chests (minecarts)... I would have to add people to chests individually (that would be a very long list) and is just pointless.

Hope that explains some stuff ;)

Heh. I hid the chests from my sandbox house on the roof. Nobody knew apart from a few trusted people I told.

Then, when I moved to Beachside, I moved the chests underground

Please dont bring old topics up that have already been discussed and I have already given my response too. Topic now locked my decision still stands as above.
