Windows Vista Remote Desktop Authentication Certificate Error
For some time now I’ve been trying to use Windows Vistas Remote Desktop Connection Application to remotely connect from one Computer with Windows Vista Ultimate installed to another Computer with Windows Vista Ultimate installed on the same local area network and workgroup.
But every time I try to connect to the other PC from either the first or second PC I get the following message:
“The authentication certificate received from the remote computer has expired or it not valid.”
And the thing is I’ve tried pretty much everything from Windows Vista’s Online Help (here) to a Windows Vista Remote Desktop Connection Authentication FAQ post by the Terminal Services Team (here) and lots more… and still no luck!
So I’m hoping that someone can help me out here, there has to be someone that has experienced exactly (or very similar) the same problem as me and managed to fix it.

This isn’t a KB for Vista, but it sounds similar to something I ran across previously working on a couple of servers. Might be a good starting point.?.

This is usually caused by time discrepancy between client and server. Synchronizing the time should help.
Another possible cause: The server did not have the time set correctly during setup. Rebooting your server after setting the correct time should help in this case.
If this does not help either, try the following:
1. Start mmc.exe and open Certificates snap-in for local computer account.
2. Navigate to “Certificates\Remote Desktop\Certificates”
3. Delete certificate that’s in this store.
4. Reboot the machine.

I did realize RDP needed time synchronizing in order to get them to work properly.
Is there any way to disable this?
You see, i have these demo softwares that work for 30 days and they are chemical simulation softwares that normally take over 60 days to finish a single calculation!
The way I found out to make the demo work indefinitely is by changing the date. (in case you are concearned with me using software illegaly, I can tell you it’s supervised that all chemical calculations once published need to have a fully purchased licence, which I will, once I see these softwares are good enough for me)
