I was just reading a post<\/a> by Samantha Wilcox<\/a> who was wondering whether the whole social media thing is going to impact on ticket sales to Music Festivals.<\/p>\n

What do you think, will people continue to pay to camp in muddy fields and share toilets with thousands of other people when they can get it all streamlined via a selection of youtube\/myspace pages with a choice to watch simultaneous gigs one after another and then also have the chance to re-watch them by downloading them to their portable media devices to share with their friends? All this whilst enjoying their own private camping experience with their mates paying next to nothing for the pleasure. Or will people continue going to Music Festivals because of the experience?<\/p>\n

So in other words as put by Sam, will festivals survive the all-encompassing web 2.0 revolution?<\/p>\n

I certainly think that people will continue going to festivals for the time being, because though technology is getting better and better the experience of going to a festival with thousands of people is a much different experience than what you get from being at home watching it alone or with your mates!<\/p>\n

If however it does happen soon then there’s bound to be some kind of embedded advertising in the streaming videos, maybe something similar to what a couple of companies are testing out now (can’t find the information for it right now)<\/p>\n

Anyhow it might happen it might not, I guess for now will just have to wait and see, but hey while you’re waiting\u00a0don’t forget to let me or Sam<\/a> know what you think.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
