Many WordPress users are excited and looking forward to this release because of the following features:<\/p>\n<p>New User Features<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tagging support<\/li>\n<li>Permalink redirection<\/li>\n<li>Improved comment editing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Developer \/ Power User Stuff<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Atom 1.0 support for feeds.<\/li>\n<li>Multiple format comment feeds, including Atom.<\/li>\n<li>Switched to jQuery for core JS, which is lighter and faster.<\/li>\n<li>Atom API support.<\/li>\n<li>Additional XML-RPC APIs for pages and such.<\/li>\n<li>phpmailer was integrated for performance and maintainability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Future additions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New permalink redirection stuff<\/li>\n<li>An additional bundled theme?<\/li>\n<li>Widgets?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>But are you?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you haven&#8217;t heard or read about it yet, WordPress 2.2 will be released this coming April the\u00a022nd which is less than a week away now.
