I was\u00a0contacted about\u00a0a new band the other week, called The Carpels<\/a> who have real ambition to be at the forefront of modern cutting edge pop music with songs that have indie, punk, dub step\u00a0&\u00a0electronic music running through them \u2013 Picking up an inspired lead on pop from Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, Late of the Pier and\u00a0The Fall amongst others.<\/p>\n

In early April the band launched on BBC Introducing<\/a> with a live radio session and the release of free download \u201cSand\u201d via EMI and Amazon which is the first of 3 contemporary indie anthems to come out in 2011 and also the band have been asked in to Beacon Radio in Wolverhampton on 10th<\/sup> May for an interview with the drive time presenter.<\/p>\n

An interview with the band is to appear in May\u2019s edition of Brum Notes magazine, the West\u00a0Midlands student paper as part of their \u201cNext Generation of Great Midland Bands\u201d.<\/p>\n

All of the bands first recordings were produced at Big Mushroom Studios in Cheshire by Jim Spencer who also\u00a0worked with\u00a0New Order, The Cribs, Doves\u00a0and Shaun Ryder.<\/p>\n

It’s also worth noting that The Carpels\u00a0<\/a>are the latest signing to label One Beat Records<\/a>that was started in 2010 by Jon Brookes (drummer with The Charlatans) and Ian Light (ex-Virgin Records).<\/p>\n
