Straight after being\u00a0the first person yesterday to comment and blog<\/a> about the new @live.com and @windowslive.com domains, I started to let other sites know about the news by sumbiting it to news sites like digg.com<\/a> and neowin.net<\/a>\u00a0as well as posting it on my MS Discussion<\/a> site, but\u00a0now I’ve noticed that the Windows Live Mail Support Team has removed the original post from their Windows Live Support Blog but not long after adding one final bit to the end of the post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I can understand why they added the final bit to the post but I’m not sure as to why they have removed it as the news is already out, but my best guess is that it’s in draft mode until futher notice!<\/p>\n

On June 20th, two new domains will be available for customers signing up for a new Windows Live ID: @live.com and @windowslive.com.\u00a0 These new domains will be available when you sign up for a new account with Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Family Safety Settings, and www.live.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You don’t have to sign up for a new account…<\/strong><\/p>\n

but if you do, you will be able to use the account to sign in to any MSN or Windows Live service.\u00a0 The new account won’t contain your old mail and contacts, but we are working on a migration process that will allow you to transfer your current information to a new account.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Should I sign up for a new account?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If your current mail and contacts are more important to you than getting a new domain name, we recommend you stay with your account.\u00a0 Even if you do sign up for a new account you won’t lose your info, but we know it’s tought juggling two accounts.<\/p>\n

If you are excited about the new domains names (we sure are!!) then definitely sign up and let your contacts know about your new address.\u00a0 This is a great opportunity to make get the account name you have always wanted (no more mailaccount283904938@msn.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Can I still get @hotmail.com and @msn.com accounts?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You sure can.\u00a0 New @live.com and @windowslive.com domains will only be available through the sites supporting the new Windows Live sign up experience.\u00a0 So if you get a new Hotmail account, you will get an @hotmail.com domain, but if you get a new Messenger account you will also have the option of getting an @live.com domain.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
