Microsoft have now released for download<\/a> Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 Beta 2.<\/p>\n

Changes in ActiveSync 4.5 Beta 2 help resolve issues related to setup, partnerships, and connectivity with the PC and Microsoft Exchange. In addition, it includes a troubleshooter utility that scans your computer and device to identify problems and offers information and corrective actions to solve them.<\/p>\n

ActiveSync 4.5 Beta 2 also supports PC sync via USB cable, Bluetooth, or infrared connection.<\/p>\n

Here’s a run through of some of the\u00a0new features in ActiveSync 4.5 Beta 2 along with their benefits:<\/p>\n

Feature:<\/strong> Improved USB support
\nBenefit:<\/strong>\u00a0 ActiveSync 4.5 provides the fastest USB transport between your desktop PC and your mobile device to date.<\/p>\n

Feature:<\/strong> View Exchange Server Synchronization status on your PC
\nBenefit:<\/strong>\u00a0You can now view server synchronization status while synchronizing with a Microsoft Exchange server through your desktop PC’s internet connection.<\/p>\n

Feature:<\/strong> Synchronization of pictures in Contacts on your mobile device with Outlook
\nBenefit:<\/strong> If an Outlook contact is associated with a picture, ActiveSync now synchronizes the associated picture\u00a0 from Outlook on your desktop PC to your mobile device.
\nNote:<\/strong> Microsoft Outlook XP or Microsoft Outlook 2003 is required to use this feature.<\/p>\n

Feature:<\/strong> Easier to identify friendly device names
\nBenefit:<\/strong>\u00a0ActiveSync now supports friendly names for devices, making it easier to identify the device that you want to sync with over a Bluetooth or an infrared (IR) connection.
\nNote:<\/strong>\u00a0ActiveSync uses your Windows login name to generate an unique device partnership ID. This login name may be broadcast to other users such as with Bluetooth discovery broadcasts.<\/p>\n
