Google Community Redesign at Googlecommunity.net
Last night I was up quite late and was thinking to myself that maybe it’s time we started to redesign Google Community from scratch removing all unnecessary PhpBB mods that have been installed over time and are just slowing down the forums and creating more troubles for updating the forum on every new release.
Randy one of the staff members from GC mentioned to me a while back if we could use Google Community as a temporary location for this redesign or if we could host it somewhere else like on my site, at the time when he asked me this it wasn’t really the most suitable of times as I was just going to bed and it was quite late as it was already!
But now I’ve had time to think about this and I think we might be able to do it but the time I have is minimal now, so I thought to myself why not host it somewhere else where all members of staff can have access to it and work on it as a community project!
That’s why yesterday I registered the domain name GoogleCommunity.net so we could have somewhere to use as a base station for the new look and feel of Google Community!
But hey don’t worry guy’s GoogleCommunity.com is and still will be the main domain name for Google Community, because after we have created a new look and feel for Google Community we will just transfer it over to the existing domain we have now.
We may even ask some regular members of GC to Beta Test it for us, though please be aware nothings for granted yet because even though I’ve registered the domain name googlecommunity.net, we might not even go ahead with a new look for Google Community as it might be just not a suitable path to go down or it might be that we just cant find the time to do it in as we are mostly all students!
But hey you never know what will happen so watch out for more news on this in the future somewhere, sometime!
