Schedule Update – Expression Web Designer CTP1

Great news for us Beta Testers of Microsoft’s Expression Web Designer, it looks like we will have a CTP (Community Technology Preview) version of the Expression Web Designer by the 2nd of May 2006, here’s a post from Devindra S. Chainani’s  Blog, a Group Program Manager for the Expression Web Designer:

Expression Web Designer will release a confidential CTP1 for a few users on 5/2/06 and a public CTP on 06/15/06.

We found one show-stopper bug for the Expression Web Designer CTP1 on Saturday 4/15. This bug will be fixed by tomorrow and checked into the build on Wednesday. Barring no more show-stopper bugs, we will have a release candidate for a private, confidential CTP on 4/29. This will enable us to release a confidential CTP1 to a few users on 5/2/06. We’ll pound on it for a few more weeks and release a public version of CTP1 on 06/15/06

(CTP = Community Technology Preview — a preview without the same level of testing as a beta but usable enough for early adopters to preview new features)

What was the show-stopper bug on 4/15?

The PID (Product ID) key wasn’t getting recognized. Like most Microsoft products, users will be required to enter a PID key in the release version of Expression Web Designer but for CTP1, we will be embedding a PID key in the setup so CTP1 users don’t have to enter a PID key to install the CTP.
