Share Your OPML has launched

Web logging pioneer Dave Winer has now launched his new project called Share Your OPML, a Web site dedicated to gathering blog subscription lists for sharing.

The site is designed around a top 100 list of blogs and news sites chosen by the people participating in Share Your OPML. To participate all people need to do is create a membership account and share their OPML either by uploading it or by entering the web address to it.

Here’s an extract from the sites FAQ:

What is this site about?
The purpose of this site is to gather a community of subscription lists, in OPML format, and aggregate them in interesting ways.

How do I participate?
1. You must have an OPML file, either on your local system, or available through the Web.

2. Become a member of this site. Membership is free. We will not spam you, or sell your name or email address, or contact you for any purpose other than to coordinate subscription-sharing. We will of course use the information in your file to produce aggregate information.

3. Upload your OPML file, or enter the URL of your OPML file.

4. Say that it’s okay to share your subscription list, if you want others to be able to look at your list. By default it assumes that you do want to allow this.

5. When your subscriptions change, or if your OPML file moves, re-do step 2.

If you have questions or comments, first review the rest of this page, then post to the mail list.
